The Healthy Aussie Onion

I found myself craving a Bloomin’ Onion from Outback the other day so I created a way to make it somewhat healthy!  Here’s the recipe:

1 onion sliced either into 1 – 2 inch slices or sliced like onion rings, whatever you prefer

1/2 cup egg whites

1 cup whole wheat bread crumbs

4 tablespoons hot sauce

1 cup sour cream

Dip the onion in the egg whites, then in the bread crumbs, then place on sprayed or non-stick baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes

Mix hot sauce & sour cream.  you can use different amounts of hot sauce, depending on how you like it.  i just eyeballed.  use this as sauce.

I can’t give you nutrition facts on this because i just eyeballed everything.  it’s probably not THAT great for you because of the sodium in the bread crumbs, as well as the carbs, but it will curb the craving for the unhealthy restaurant version!
